Our History of Serving Oshawa
Drs. Campbell, Horner, and Panowyk have established a style of Optometric practice at Parkview Optometry that is designed to bring eyecare excellence to all members of our community. We are passionate about what we do. We strive to provide you and your family with eye care you can trust and rely on, and we’ve been doing so for almost 100 years.
First starting as a small office in the back of Lovell Drugs in downtown Oshawa, the practice grew under Dr. Ted Johnson, then partners Drs. Janet Hruska Schill, Patricia Campbell and Rebecca Horner relocated the practice in its current location which they designed and renovated in 2005.
We are constantly upgrading our location to serve all members of our community better, having recently installed an accessibility ramp and gender-neutral fully accessible washrooms.
Check out the Ontario Association of Optometrists website for more educational resources.

Our Community
We love the community we serve, and we’re dedicated to giving back in any way we can. If you or a loved one has a cause or an idea for a way we can help, please let us know! We are always looking for new ways to contribute to the community we care so deeply about.

In April 2019, Doctors Campbell and Horner and optician Becky travelled to Todos Santos, Mexico, as part of Sight is a Right to provide eye care to the people who live there. Todos Santos is a village of 10,000 people with only one optometrist. In our short, 4-day clinic run by a group of 30 devoted individuals, we were able to provide free eye care and glasses to 3,000 people. We collected, cleaned, repaired, packaged, and carried with us 400 pairs of donated glasses from our community to the village.
In November of 2019, we were honoured to host a private evening of eye care for the residents of Denise House. Partnered with our lab partner, Essilor Canada, we provided free eye care and eyewear for the women and children in the shelter. This is something we plan to continue for many years.
In 2018 and 2019, our team members have participated in multiple mud runs to help raise money for cancer. Even those of our staff who didn’t run still came out to cheer us on! We are happy to say that we were able to raise about $1,200 each time.
Over the past two years, we have held several book sales to raise money for many local causes, including raising money for Hearth Place and breast cancer research.

Our Testimonials
This was an initial visit. My wife wanted a second opinion since she was having some problems. The staff were friendly and efficient. The Dr. was thorough and great to deal with. Answered all of her questions and treated her completely differently than the optometrist that we have been going to for years. Amazing what an efficiently run business with pleasant people can do for your faith in service providers! There are still a few out there believe me! Thanks!
What a great friendly environment, with 1st class service and cutting edge technology. If “eyes” are important, and they are, then this is THE PLACE!!
I have been going here since their last location (20+ years). Have always been treated very well. Doctors are very knowledgeable and will help you. Excellent service and willing to go the extra mile.
