Dr. Rebecca Horner is a dedicated optometrist committed to providing comprehensive eye care and empowering her patients through education. With a passion for excellence and a belief in the importance of thorough patient care, Dr. Horner earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Waterloo before completing her optometry degree at the esteemed New England College of Optometry in Boston in 2000.

Dr. Horner’s philosophy centers around patient involvement in disease management and prevention. She believes in fostering a collaborative relationship with her patients, ensuring they are well-informed about their eye health and treatment options. Her expertise extends across all age groups, from children to seniors, as she finds fulfillment in serving diverse communities.

One area of particular interest for Dr. Horner is the impact of concussions on vision and overall well-being. She is dedicated to staying at the forefront of research and techniques in this field, striving to enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by concussions.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Horner enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Mike, and their two sons. She finds joy in exploring new destinations through travel and indulges her adventurous spirit on the slopes while skiing.

With a blend of expertise, compassion, and a commitment to ongoing education, Dr. Rebecca Horner is dedicated to helping her patients achieve optimal eye health and visual wellness.

Dr. Laura Panowyk was raised in Whitby and is passionate about serving her local Durham community by providing excellence in eye care. Dr. Panowyk earned her Bachelor of Medical Sciences from the University of Western Ontario in 2012 and graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science in 2016.  

During her studies, she completed an enriching externship in ocular therapeutics and disease in Miami. There, she honed her skills in managing a diverse array of ocular pathologies, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic/hypertensive retinopathy. Dr. Panowyk’s dedication to expanding her knowledge and experience led her to participate in a meaningful mission trip to Romania, where she provided essential eye care to underprivileged populations.

Upon her graduation, she began practicing at Parkview Optometry as an associate in 2016 and was delighted to a partner with the practice in 2019. With a comprehensive understanding of ocular health and a compassionate approach to patient care, Dr. Panowyk strives to provide personalized solutions tailored to each individual’s needs. Her unwavering commitment to excellence and continuous pursuit of knowledge ensure that her patients receive the highest standard of care.

Dr. Panowyk enjoys seeing patients of all ages, but has a particular fondness for children’s eye exams, having two little ones of her own. Her compassionate approach and gentle demeanor make her a favorite among young patients and their parents alike. In her spare time, Dr. Panowyk cherishes moments spent with her husband and two young daughters.

Dr. Campbell joined Parkview Optometry after graduating from the University of Waterloo Optometry program in 1991 and completing part of her training at the University of California, Berkeley.  Further studies at NovaSoutheastern University in Oklahoma allowed for training in therapeutic drug management of ocular disease.  While focused mostly on providing exceptional care in her own community for the last 30 years, Dr. Campbell has also participated in eye care projects in Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. These missions provided thousands of eyeglasses to underprivileged people who otherwise had no access to eye care.

Dr. Campbell is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and has had many speaking engagements to community groups and colleagues on various eye care topics.  Dr. Campbell has served as a consultant to several eyecare companies.  With the emergence of new technologies in eyecare, Dr. Campbell believes it is important to utilize advanced testing to ensure that patients are getting the best eyecare possible.

Dr. Campbell is married to Dr. Dean Bennett, also an Optometrist, who practices in Courtice.  Together, they enjoy travel, golf and pickleball.  Dr. Campbell also enjoys yoga and marathons, and strives to lead by example to her patients of the importance of overall health to ones’ eyesight and eyehealth.

Dr. Yan Li received her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, specializing in Cell and Molecular Biology where she quickly realized that she very much preferred working with human than microscopic creatures. She then continued her studies at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Sciences and graduated with honours in 2019. As part of her training, Dr. Li had the opportunity to complete one of her clinical rotations in Hong Kong and managed a variety of ocular diseases in Pinellas Park, Florida. An optometric mission trip also brought her to Moldova, where she provided eye care to the local underprivileged population and thoroughly enjoyed every part of it.
Exposure to clinical settings internationally encouraged her adopt a versatile approach in practice. Over the years, she has worked on incorporating more therapeutic options here at Parkview Optometry, including specialty scleral contact lenses for ocular conditions like Dry Eye Syndrome and Keratoconus. Dr. Li is excited to meet patients of all ages and is looking forward to giving back to the local community.

Dr. Rutu Patel joined the Parkview Optometry team in 2019, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence in eye care. Specializing in comprehensive eye exams for all ages, contact lens fittings, dry eye treatment, post-operative surgical eye care, and ocular disease management, Dr. Patel is dedicated to ensuring the optimal vision and eye health of her patients.

Dr. Patel’s academic journey began with an undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Windsor, followed by the completion of her doctorate at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2018. Throughout her education, she pursued various externships across the United States, gaining invaluable experience in VA hospitals, corporate, and private settings. Upon graduation, she made the decision to return to her Canadian roots, eager to serve the local community. Dr. Patel is both Canadian and American-board certified.

Dr. Patel is particularly passionate about pediatric optometry, advocating strongly for the early detection and treatment of myopia in children. Drawing from her extensive clinical experience, which includes school screenings, she emphasizes the importance of proactive eye care from a young age.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Patel offers exams in Hindi and Gujarati. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Patel enjoys trying new recipes and exploring new destinations with her husband.

Dr. Zachary Bryant earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Robert Morris University, while fulfilling a lacrosse scholarship. His academic journey continued as he recently achieved his Doctorate of Optometry with Honors from Salus University (PCO) in 2023. Through rigorous clinical rotations across the United States, he gained invaluable experience and honed his skills to deliver exceptional eye care. Hailing from Oshawa, Dr. Bryant is deeply rooted in the local sports community and is eager to contribute to the well-being of his hometown by providing quality eye care services.
